Full disclosure I'm the owners son! But why Sailer Roofing is the best. They still hand nail!!! Now that sounds less efficient and it maybe a small amount but you don't have a person pulling hoses, running nails, laying shingles for other people. Air guns keep my father in work. Not because they can't be put on right but because they aren't. It is all about speed with air guns. You hear pop, pop, pop and they are dragging the air gun across the shingle and tapping the safety to make it fire. Well if the air gun is at an angle then the nail cuts through the shingle. If the air is turned up to high or there is a soft spot in the plywood the nail goes through the shingle. Also did you know that there are warranty lines on the shingles and that the nail has to go in between those lines to be covered by manufactures warranty. For hand nailers the lines are about 1/2 inch apart. For airguns it is 1 1/2 inches three times as big. Why you ask because with the dimensional shingles or ones that have a wood shake type look. That gap the more accurate hand nailers are given go through 2 layers of the shingle you are nailing down and the one layer through the shingle below it. Where the air gun only has to go through 1 layer of the shingle you are nailing down and one layer in the shingle below it. So if an air gun blows through the first layer that shingle is only held down by a nail at the top 1 inch of the shingle. And this is why roofs now blow off a lot. My father will never be able to keep up with everyone wanting a roof. He is usually a months behind. So if you don't want to wait on him. I encourage you to have your roof hand nailed down. Please!!! It will lower everyone's house insurance over time and give you a much better roof.
