We had a terrible experience with Steve Rulli/The Mad Roofer. After researching online, as well as get a friend recommendation to use Steve to replace our existing shingled roof with a metal roof, we chose to move forward. Steve estimated not only our roof replacement, but replacing existing flashing around our chimney and in areas that were needed. He did an extremely poor job with these items, as well as put our guttering back up completely incorrectly. Now, the water just sits in our gutter and will not drain properly because it wasn't re-installed correctly. We unfortunately paid in full because Steve was insistent on being paid as soon as the job was complete, and it wasn't until our first rain that we noticed things were not functioning properly. We had a general contractor inspect to see what was happening and at that point did he point out all Steve did incorrectly or poorly. We reached out to Steve to come and take a look at our issues, providing him pictures and exact information as to what was happening/wrong. That is when the ugly texts began, very poor and unprofessional language was used, he refused to correct his mistakes, and he refused to communicate with us further. At this point we are having to get someone else to completely re-do these items and pay twice for something that should and could have been done correctly the first time. I have given him 1 star on this review because honestly, the roof he installed looks to be fairly good quality and decent work. However, everything else that went along with the roof was incredibly disappointing. After mentioning to another contractor in general conversation what had happened to us with Steve, he informed us that Steve has a very bad reputation in the area for not being willing to fix his mistakes or do things correctly the first time. I just wish we had learned this information sooner, as we would have chosen someone else to work with. I would definitely never be able to recommend him for any work, but if you do, I would certainly not pay him in full before all work is completed and inspected for accuracy.

We've had Steve do several small roof repairs for us over several years time with excellent results and at prices that were far better than competitors. Our latest repair was a minor gutter project, and after contacting Steve, he said he would get on it when his schedule freed up. The repair didn't happen, so I contacted him again, and he vowed to get it done. Again, I waited, but had to recontact him a third time. Steve apologized, said he would be there that day, did the job, and didn't charge us for the repair! Although I didn't not appreciate having to contact him several times, his customer service and accommodation was excellent. I will surely use The Mad Roofer again, although I hope I don't need to ;-)

A massive oak fell on our house last spring, causing extensive damage to the roof. Steve and his crew did a fantastic job on our roof repair. Steve is highly professional, a great communicator, and has a heart for helping people. He responded quickly to our messages; he explained our options in detail; he worked hard to match our hard-to-replace shingles almost perfectly. His crew worked efficiently and thoroughly and completed work ahead of schedule. I give him the strongest possible referral to anyone in need of roof replacement or repair.

Mr. Rulli came to my house and did a thorough evaluation of our roof. He knew we pinching pennies, so he prioritized the problems and offered us several us options. He allowed us to choose the option that best suited our budget. We felt no pressure to choose the most expensive fix. He and his company do excellent work!

Steve is honest, hardworking, and a craftsman. He is very direct about what needs to be done but doesn't push what a person doesn't need. If you want to support someone who supports his community and goes out of his way to help others, then send your business his way !
