Stay well away from hiring Sean Ellis and his company "BuildingFife" for any building work. They took payment for a job, did not complete what they were hired to do, and then started ignoring all phone calls, texts, emails and letters. Worse still, it has now come to light after an inspection by an expert that the work they have done on our fireplace is completely illegal and puts my partner, our pets and myself at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning should we dare to light the fire they were paid over £1000 to complete (the room fills with smoke when lit). The fireplace is now an unsightly daily reminder of how stupid I was to trust Building Fife. They have taken over £1000 for it, and the cost of undoing their poor quality, illegal work and having it redone to regulations has been quoted at another £1500 by an expert that is competent to do the work unlike Sean. We have sought legal advice and are now preparing to take Sean and "BuildingFife" to small claims court. It is now March and they still have not responded once. Do yourself a massive favour and avoid them at all costs. They don't care about the work they do, or the potential consequences. They just want to take your money and disappear. To think these cowboys might have left other unfortunate customers with a job that is against regulations and putting them at risk too is deeply concerning.
