Brian Aymer review about company Smith General Contracting and Roofing

In 2016, Smith General Contracting did some repair work on my roof which included placing in a new exhaust pipe and repairing a leak on my back room of the house. They were fast, efficient and friendly. In the fall of 2017, though, the leak returned to the back room. Smith’s was conveniently working on a house across the street when I discovered the leak and I walked up to Gary to tell him about the problem. He handed me a piece of paper and pen to write down my number and he would contact me later. Gary reeked of marijuana so bad that I had to wash my hands when I got back to the house because the paper was coated in the smell. He called the next day and told me that he would be out tomorrow to look at it. He didn’t show up. I called him two days later and asked what happened and he apologized and said he would be out that afternoon, and once again, didn’t show up. This happened four times and with extra rain storms during that week, I had lost several books in the back room so I called another company. When I had talked to Gary again, I told him about the loss of books and he yelled, “Well that’s not my fault!” in which I replied, “I didn’t say it was, I just want to get this fixed as soon as possible before I lose more.” The day the new company came out to look at my damage; Smith came out at the same time. Nobody was home, so Gary took a ladder and climbed over my back yard fence, while the other company didn’t. One of his workers called me and told me that they had replaced the first layer the year before, but it was the second layer that needed fixed. My first response in my mind was “Why didn’t they notice this when they repaired the roof in the first place?” Then he told me it would be about $1500. At that time I had already hired the other company who fixed my problem for half the price. If you hire Smith’s General Contracting, be very cautious.
